S.U.M

Brad and I have always felt a little inadequate when it comes to serving God in a public or crowded setting. We both have struggled with our inadequacies as speakers and being bold.  I always use to say Brad was my little Moses, but what I didn’t realize until recently is that even God used Moses. Moses may have felt inadequate about his speech but God saw his inadequacies as strengths. Through out my life I have felt less than, like I was not going to amount to much.  These thoughts came from man and the world; not God.

People would treat me like I was stupid and look down at me and even now I struggle with criticism. What I realized though was God see’s me differently.  He doesn’t call the qualified he qualifies the called.  One scripture that God has spoken to me a couple times is 2 Timothy 1:6-7  6For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

That is one reason why Brad and I feel called to attend SUM.  We both have put in our applications and are waiting to see what God does.  We both are planning on attending full-time in the area of Global Missions.  At first Brad was not going to apply but we felt led by God to have him try and go.  We decided I would attend because my schedule allows for me to attend classes.  But recently I had a dream that he was suppose to attend school for Global Missions.  The funny thing is I didn’t even know that the school used the term Global Missions and that is exactly what he said he was going to do in my dream.

If you have read any of my previous blogs you will know that Brad and I feel called to India. We are not sure when, how, or for what but we do know that God is giving us a heart for the people of India.  Even when I hear people on the radio speaking of India in any way I feel a tug at my heart for the people there.  We do believe it will somehow be outreach oriented or evangelistic because that is our heart. We also think it may be focused on the Youth because we have always loved working with youth and God has given youth a special place in our heart.

One thing I believe God has called us to is to be is set apart.  Like it talks about in 1 Peter 2.  9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellency of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.  We want to be an example to the youth of India.  We want to show them they are Royal, Chosen by God! Most youth in the slums of India feel ashamed, unworthy, inadequate.

But God loves them and we plan to proclaim his name in all of India. God is good, God is holy, God is glorious, passionate, loving, and kind.  He is everything they need and everything they should want.  We believe they will be called out of the darkness and into the light; they will no longer seek after false gods but the One True God.  No longer will they be entrenched in witchcraft but they will be set free by the living God.  The people of India will be saved!
